Ferrum — supply chain visibility platform
Real-time supply chain visibility platform for industrial manufacturers — track-and-trace, dwell time, exception management.
- 12 carrier API integrations
- EDI ingestion pipeline
- IoT container tracking
- MapLibre geospatial dashboard
- Exception SLA system
What they needed to solve.
Ferrum's customers (Tier-1 automotive manufacturers) were running mission-critical operations on Excel exports from 4 disconnected logistics systems. Exception detection was reactive. Containers sat in port for days before anyone noticed.
How we approached it.
A unified platform pulling from 12 carrier APIs, EDI feeds, and IoT-tagged containers. MapLibre-based geospatial UI, exception inbox with SLA tracking, and a contractual-cost calculator that flags demurrage risk in real time.
Design decisions.
- AaIBM Plex Sans — UI
- AaIBM Plex Mono — IDs + figures
- AaIBM Plex Serif — exec summaries
Map + inbox + ledger triptych. Status colours match international port standards. Exception inbox treated like email — read-state, snooze, escalate.
- Inbox-style exception management
- Geospatial overlay with port-standard status colours
- Demurrage cost calculator inline with each shipment
What changed.
Excel exports from 4 systems, reactive exception detection, no live demurrage tracking, manual escalation.
Unified visibility platform, 12-carrier integration, live demurrage tracking, SLA-driven exception inbox.
